The Portland Trail Blazers are proud to honor and uplift the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through intentional, year-round engagement. As the NBA team furthest from any HBCU, we’re committed to bridging that distance—bringing HBCU culture, excellence, and opportunity to the Pacific Northwest.

Each year, we welcome HBCU students through the NBA Foundation’s Fellowship Program and celebrate their impact during our “HBCU to the Pros” weekend, presented by Alaska Airlines. From hosting universities like Prairie View A&M, Howard University and Southern University to partnering with local Divine Nine organizations, our work is rooted in connection, culture, and community. For us, honoring HBCUs isn’t just a moment—it’s a movement.
